Today's Bridge: We had eight players, so I got a seat. The first hand was an utter disaster... I had a great hand, H K-x-x D A-K-10-9-x-x C A-x-x-x or so, but Steve, my partner, had S K-J-10-x-x-x H Q-J-x-x-x C x-x, and Mike was sitting to my left with nothing but spades and hearts, while Raymond had all the diamonds and clubs. The contract was, sadly, 3C, and I'm amazed I was only off two. The next hand was Steve's 1D. That's how bad things were getting. The opponents made a 4C next, which I'm pretty sure was settable, but Steve led spades into Raymond's void and gave them ruffs instead of pulling their trump. However, we followed up with a 2H, then a 3D that would have made 5, but despite having the right point ranges for a slam try, we were missing the top two spades.
Today's Gaming: I went for something a bit radical today and played some Mana Khemia. I finally got through the Old Schoolhouse after a few tries (the secret is to skip minibosses as much as possible, although I managed to beat one) and made the items that unlocked two levels of the Grow Book for my weakest character. She actually has some HP now! Hooray for not suffering one-hit kills! Seriously, if there'd been any way to create that item before going through that area, it would have been SO much easier.
I always end up staying up too late on Wednesdays... but South Park is worth it.
