Anyone who doesn't read Van Von Hunter needs to read this week's strip. Forget about the context... if you haven't been living under a rock for the past year or so, you won't need it.
So the day was pretty stereotypically busy for a Sunday. I started by trying to make some progress in Banjo-Kazooie, and by the end of the day, I was ready to fight Gruntilda with my double-length health bar. I'm still missing one puzzle piece (in the ship's propellers in Rusty Bucket Bay... you know the one) and one extra honeycomb piece (somewhere in Click Clock Wood... probably in winter, but I didn't see it while I was flying around) as well as a bunch of notes (1 in the haunted mansion and 2 in Click Clock Wood that I just couldn't find, and 8 in Rusty Bucket Bay because the engine room sucks), but I still had enough to get all of the other secrets. And I'd forgotten that infernal board game. Fortunately, after losing a few lives, I'd learned enough of the answers to get through. And knowing that I'd need them eventually, I paid attention to Brentilda's hints this time through. Gruntilda's special party trick is Doing a Striptease... yeah. I'll either finish that up next time I feel like playing a game, then erase the file, or save that for later and get back to FF9 or even KH2.
Then it was lunch at a local Chinese place, which was really good and quite affordable ($3.75 lunch specials include an entree and white or fried rice, and 70 cents for a can of soda to wash it down), food shopping, apartment cleaning (couldn't quite scrub all the burnt stuff off the range pans, and the toilet still has some crust around the front, but it's a lot cleaner than it was, and the visible junk is all out of the way... I just need to find time to report that the garbage disposal has stopped working, although I might run some cold water in it tomorrow just to see), and the long-awaited manga shopping. My rewards were Fullmetal Alchemist DVD 9, Zatch Bell 7, my special ordered The Devil Does Exist 5, and after some hunting in the back (because I'd seen it on the shelves yesterday), Hot Gimmick 11. A slow week... so depending on what I find next week, I might be able to place the big online order. Or I could do that anyway, but I'm pretending to be responsible with my money.
Today's Fortune Cookie: Avert misunderstanding by calm, poise, and balance. In bed. I should frame this one.
Depending on when I get this posted and whether there's anyone else around to talk to, it'll be either Hare Nochi Guu or Monkey Business tonight. Either way, it should be fun.
