Today's Exercise: Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Count them... it's about as agonizing as what I went through. My ankles were stiff or something.

Today's Bridge: I'm not sure whether we gave up a 4H on the first hand or just gave them an overtrick when we could have held them to the contract. Paul had bid clubs and spades, and wisely chose to lead a diamond to my ace. Seeing the A-K-x-x-x of spades on the board (and having supported spades myself, with three of them), I led a club to Kelly's ace, and she led a heart to Paul's king. He led a spade, for some reason, and gave Kelly ruff-and-sluffs for the rest of the contract. We ended up throwing away at least one good club, as Paul had the good king and I had the queen, blocked only by the board's ruffing potential. Then we sacrificed in 5C, off three thanks to Kelly leading spades into our double void every chance she got. They didn't double, fortunately, and I'm sure they had a game. Raymond declared 3NT and missed it by two, but he never cashed the board's ace of spades. I'm sure he could have made it by playing differently. I did manage to pick up three tricks from the A-K-9-x-x of clubs because Raymond got himself trapped in his hand and unable to get to the board. Then we really turned things around, making 4H (that was all Paul and his eight hearts over my weak opener) and 3NT (all me, probably shouldn't have been made as I had A-x of diamonds and he had x-x, and we were missing two other aces, but the opponents never led diamonds until the end, so my A-Q-J of hearts got set up and I picked up some long clubs despite the 4-1 split) to finish the rubber. Then I had a weak 2H opener with K-J-10-x-x-x-x and A-Q-x-x of diamonds, to which Paul responded a forcing 2S, so I had to bid 3D, and he closed at 3NT. I don't think we did TOO badly considering that we had about 20 points between us, and the splits between hands were atrocious. Also, Kelly had the A-Q of hearts over my holding, so no matter which finesse Paul tried in hearts, it fails. I reminded him afterward of the value of passing, and though 2H would have been tough, I think we had a shot at it.

I got a few things done today at work despite the heat... it seemed to be cooling down near the end of the day, and the lab was down to 80 when I left. I left it closed, and I'll check it again tomorrow to see whether it's safe to turn the systems on. It seems as though the heat wave outside is breaking, which can't hurt matters.

Fullmetal Alchemist DVD 4 arrived today. Speaking of which, I haven't heard from lovengizmo other than her entry today announcing her birthday, so that's about all I can say about her for now. But it's her birthday.

My desktop stayed online all day while I was at work, with no BitTorrent clients running. I like Azureus and figure I'll probably keep it as my default client. The bad news is that, for whatever reason, Bleach episode 39 was larger than any other episode, so I could only fit 3 episodes onto that disc. But the downloads went well, and I've moved quite a few episodes off my computer.

Now, the question is: will anyone believe that their documents need a Document Identification Code Key (D.I.C.K.)?

I reached blindly into my cutlery drawer to grab a measuring cup, and cut my fingertip. The good news is that the tacos were pretty good, and the brownies I made over the weekend came out okay.
