Nude beach flasher becomes nude beach groper. Too bad we don't have any anime women available... they always manage to beat up the pervert who touches them, unless they're Ranma 1/2 extras. Rumiko Takahashi's been nominated for Friends of Lulu's Women Cartoonists Hall of Fame, but she's the only manga artist I can think of whose women can't defend themselves against perverts. Get with the program! ^_^ To be fair, she does have many strong female characters. Just not the extras. The Cambodians are also having trouble with thieves who wear nothing but underwear and oil themselves to make themselves harder to catch.
A substitute teacher allegedly chokes a student to see how long it will take him to pass out. Is it wrong that I quickly think pedophilia might play a part in this?
A pizza delivery boy gets shot in the leg during a robbery attempt, but finishes delivering his pizzas. That's dedication for you. At least he didn't shoot himself in the leg while aiming at a snake.
A Costa Rican priest has a dog put to death for disrupting church services and has to pay a $2.10 fine. Even if that's 1,000 colons in local currency, that doesn't seem like nearly enough.
A taxi thief steals cabs and uses them to collect fares. A ride-along participant steals the squad car for his first arrest ever. People need to watch their cars more closely.
Michigan deputies complain about having to spend two hours in jail for a training program. Now they know how the inmates feel. Really... I think that was the point of the training. You know, to develop compassion. But then it makes them soft. Oh well. You win some, you lose some, you spend some time in jail for nothing.
British pubs will be allowed to serve alcohol after 11 starting in November. I also like the idea that while the legal drinking age is 18, 16 and 17 year olds can drink with a meal if accompanied by an adult. I think the U.S. should have a policy like that (or rather, the individual states should have that policy, since I don't think it's the federal government's business), to help parents teach their children responsible drinking before we assume they can be responsible and turn them out into the world. But I guess 21 is a bit old to be depending on parents anymore. No offense to 21 year olds who live with or depend on their parents.
Finally, a man whose home was destroyed by a tornado back in 1953 got medical care for his family from Red Cross. But their insurance didn't cover tornado damage, so the Red Cross donated him $7500 to rebuild. He promised to repay that money, and now he has. I'm proud of the guy. He's one of... Nido's People.
