Moa: The King of Destruction

Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh

Today's Bridge: Jerry seemed determined to make sure that if I managed to declare a hand, I didn't get to have trump. He opened 1S, I responded 2H with S x H A-J-10-x-x-x D Q-x C Q-x-x-x or so, and he passed with the singleton king of hearts. At least the next time he passed my heart response, he had TWO hearts... and I only had four. I made the first and missed the second by four. We did manage to set the opponents in two 1NT contracts while they coasted to victory in the first rubber. Then Ken opened 3C, Jerry passed, and Kevin bid 3S. I let that one go, naturally, with S x H K-J-x-x-x D K-Q-x-x-x C x-x or so, and so did Ken, but Jerry put in a 3NT bid. What? I bid 4D just so he could correct to hearts if he felt like it, and he did, and he made it with an overtrick because he had something like four hearts and 20 points. Nearly passing up a game... well, I think the opponents did in the hand where we had 6 hearts and 15 points between our hands, but they had the power almost the whole time.

I was sick this morning - worse reflux than usual, even after two doses of antacid and one of Pepto-Bismol - but I dragged myself to work anyway and spent most of the day not feeling well. I think that covers my day pretty thoroughly.
