August 4th, 2012

I devoted the afternoon to hanging out with a coworker, heading to the mall to check out Gamestop, then heading over to Barnes & Noble and Best Buy. It was a good trip, and profitable unless you consider money in the calculation of profit. Then it was profitable for the stores, but not for me.

Today's Manga: Bakuman 13, Phoenix Wright 5, Ace Attorney Investigations 1, A Certain Scientific Railgun 4, Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan 10, Dawn of the Arcana 5, A Devil and Her Love Song 4, The Flowers of Evil 2, Pandora Hearts 11, and Sayonara Zetsubou-Sensei 13 and 14... which disturbs me, because I've never seen a copy of 11 or 12 anywhere. Guess it's about time to order some online, especially considering that I think there are at least four books of Gantz I don't have, which none of the bookstores I frequent carry anymore, and the next Gunslinger Girl omnibus should be out by now.

Today's Doctor Who: I found copies of The Krotons and Death to the Daleks, as well as the Shada novelization. I thought Douglas Adams didn't want Shada to be novelized, particularly since I'm given to understand that one of the plots of Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency was based on it, but here it is.

Today's Games: I picked up a cheap used copy of Onimusha 3, although I forgot that I don't have a copy of the first one, and new copies of Rhythm Thief and Crush3D. Crush3D is my kind of puzzle game, but I think I'm going to have a lot of trouble mastering the Trophy Challenges - basically, complete every level with every collectible in a short time limit and with a limited number of crushes. I think I'll stick with just playing the levels normally for now. Rhythm Thief is taking some getting used to, but it's the first rhythm game I've seen with gameplay outside of the rhythm games. It's sort of like Professor Layton, but instead of puzzles, there are rhythm games, and the games don't seem to be hidden - they're all part of the plot. There are some sound puzzles, though. I expect I'll be sticking with Theatrhythm at work for a while. The duration is a bit more predictable.

Then I spent the evening writing a summary of the events in Woodruff and the Schnibble in Dr. Seuss-style rhyming couplets on Twitter. Just think about it, if you know both... aren't they a perfect fit?

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
