I will never master Temple Run. Ever.

Today's Bridge: Everything fell apart in the first hand. I knew 4S was a sacrifice, but New Dan decided to "see how many times [diamonds would] go" instead of pulling trump. The answer was two fewer than they would have if Ken hadn't been able to ruff them. Off four doubled put us way too far behind to catch up. We didn't do too badly in the rest of the rubber, and I missed a 4H by one only because the split was absolutely wretched and left Ken holding a tenace over my jack after two rounds of trump. The last hand was the interesting one, though. Ken opened 1H and Paul responded 1S while I held S K-Q-J-x-x-x H A-x-x-x D A-Q C 10. It's not a great hand, but I like the distribution and the promise that my partner doesn't have many hearts, so I bid 2S. Ken bid 3C, Paul responded 3D, and I bid 3S to show that I was serious about them. Ken went to 4C, and Paul went to 4D. I believe Ken tried to close in 5C, which Paul let go and I doubled, since I'm looking at three or four tricks depending on the spade split. Paul corrected to 5D, and I doubled that too. I decided to lead with the king of spades instead of the club, right into Ken's H K-Q-J-x-x D J-10 C A-K-J-x-x-x. Paul let it ride to his ace, then led a heart, which I immediately took because I assumed he was singleton. I led the club to the board's ace, and Paul ran the high hearts, sluffing spades until Dan could ruff in (with the two) and he had to overruff with the three. Still worth the ruff, since that was a board entry down. Paul ran a spade through my queen and ruffed it, then led a low club and sluffed another spade, which I ruffed with the queen so I could cash the ace of diamonds, pulling the board's last trump, and lead the jack of spades. Sadly, Paul was already out of them and ruffed it, but Dan still had the king of diamonds after all that for a second undertrick.

Today's Work: Having lots of meetings helps to fill the day. I'm not sure that they all accomplished much, but I went to them.

I have long periods now with no back pain at all. It's still there, dimly, on the edge of my awareness, but when it's not there, I could almost forget that I still have to be careful how I move and how I don't. I could be up to exercising to prevent recurrences soon. Who knows?

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
