Today's Bridge: Ken gave up his seat to give a new player (another Dan) a chance to sit at the table and play a bit. Ken did most of the deciding, but he explained everything he was thinking. I hope it was an instructive experience. As for the actual hands, I don't think there was anything particularly special - I doubled a 5C mainly on the basis of Dan's aggressive bidding, and we set them three with an early ruff and two aces afterward.

It was a painful day - somehow, I think I pulled a back muscle while climbing the stairs at work, and it's been hurting ever since. I tried applying a hot pack when I got home, but it didn't seem to help much - I think I'll have to wait until I can lie down to keep it in place properly. A couple of doses of pain medicine certainly helped take the edge off, but I really think I need to get to the root of the problem.

Today was also the day of the meeting for that big decision I mentioned last week. Technically speaking, nothing has officially happened, but I've made my decision and the outcome of it is inevitable. It's just going to take a while before the results affect anything. I still don't want to say anything about it until at least other people at work know what's going on. Let's just say that it may or may not be a long-term change for me, and if it isn't, it's still going to be for a good while.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
