Today's Bridge: I think we had the better cards and played well enough to get the most out of them. I picked up an early 4S by capitalizing on Paul's long but weak diamonds - the opponents attacked them hard, making them the only three tricks I lost. The opponents had a chance to make a game, but Dan accidentally covered the board's queen of trump with his ace, leaving my nine high for the setting trick. (And possibly more, since I think I led another winner or two that he might have been able to sluff on the board's clubs.) It probably didn't matter - we had a 3NT right after that, which would have ended the rubber in our favor either way. For a final hand, Paul opened 1H, and with S A-K-Q-x-x H Q-x-x-x D x-x-x C 10, I felt strong enough to respond 2NT, which is our convention for opening strength and suit support. It usually leads to cue-bidding, and indeed, Paul bid 3C, to which I responded 3S. He closed at 4H, and Dan doubled, so I redoubled - we were exploring slam, and Dan's doubling game? Paul managed an overtrick anyway, and may have had another had he discarded a diamond on the king of spades instead of ruffing with the ace. Oops. The opponents had the aces of diamonds and clubs (yes, Paul cue-bid a suit he didn't have control of, but he didn't have any controls to bid and didn't know what to do), so five was the expected result, but there are sometimes opportunities to capitalize when the opponents don't cash their tricks in time.

Today's Work: Just some experimenting with Not a Number. I've never worked with it before, so I never realized how complicated it is. You'd think assigning Not a Number to a variable was something no one would want to do. I have other options I could use, like just a ridiculously high number, but Not a Number seems more meaningful for a number that has no value.

I failed to get a perfect in the badminton minigame last night. I was sad about that, but that's a lot of button presses to be perfect on. I'm sure I'll get another try. And the rewards I did get were hilarious.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
