Back to work

Today's Bridge: I got off to a really bad start, choosing a doomed 3NT contract instead of a very comfortable 4H that's almost guaranteed an overtrick. We finally made our third 3NT contract, and when the opponents tried to match our game with a 4S, they didn't have the honors for it. We had 4H easily, and probably had a shot at 5C, but I was really weak.

Today's Work: I finally made it back, and there was no new work since I got sick, so I went back to what I was doing before. I'm almost done with the next-to-last review I was doing, but I was getting tired by the end and couldn't go through the last, giant file, so I left only half an hour late. That's also going to be a habit in the future, but today I had things to do - a video of my own to post, and a co-commentary to do. I intend to finish both remaining reviews by the end of this week, then start doing a new project in addition to the remaining reviews. That's where the overtime investment will be. Meanwhile, as you may notice by the timestamp, I'm up way too late tonight. I get too easily interested in things that I should turn off in favor of sleep. I don't even remember sleeping last night - I was awake, and then it was almost 5, but I know I slept. Good job.

I got all three of my new Doctor Who DVDs today, and sakanagai's birthday present - a "I ♥ ♥ DW" T-shirt and an actual blue canary nightlight, which is currently plugged into my bathroom socket so I can see where I'm going at night. Awesome stuff! Thinkgeek will have to be my new source of neat gift ideas if that's the sort of thing they have in their catalog. Not that I don't see dozens of links to nifty Thinkgeek stuff all the time, but I don't pay them much attention. Guess it's time to start. Thanks, sakanagai.
Not enough people for Bridge today, so I started a game of Sudoku Ball Detective. It's basically just a cheesy detective story with cutaways in every scene where you solve Sudoku-themed puzzles to advance the plot. The timer works well with playing the game over my lunch break, anyway.

I finished the review that's been sitting for weeks and moved on to the last one on my "high priority" list for now, but I'm not really sure what to do with it. I can't really go through the code because it's all Automake and configure. I don't know Automake or configure. I doubt there's much in terms of style that I could comment on, I certainly can't suggest any improvements to the methods, and there's way too much OF them to go through in any detail. Nor do I suspect that there are any problems that haven't come up in several months of using those scripts. I may give them another look tomorrow, but I suspect I'll be passing the review simply on the basis of knowing ahead of time that I have nothing to say about it. I did notice "privileges" misspelled in the README. That's all I've got.

Oh, yes, it was my birthday today. Other than a call from Mom and a few online comments, it went without fanfare or much notice at all, which is the way I like it.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
