Moa: The King of Destruction

Streaming is fun

Today's Bridge: It's a bit late to go into much detail at the moment, but Kevin was my partner today, and we made a few more tricks than we bid, but still came out pretty far ahead. I doubled a 5D contract on the strength of lots of spades to the A-K (figuring Mike was probably void) and the A-Q-J of clubs, and we set them by one despite my less than perfect defense - I gave Mike a sluff with a spade lead instead of cashing my ace of clubs for the setting trick, figuring that I didn't want to lead a club and set up his king. It turned out that Kevin had the king anyway. My best moment was making a 3D contract against a 4-0 trump split - I had S K-Q-J H x D J-8-x-x-x C K-Q-x-x and Kevin had S x-x H Q-x-x D K-Q-10-x C A-J-x-x. Ken cashed the ace of hearts, then led a club. I took in my hand and led a diamond to the ten, and Ken showed out. Mike held the ace while I ran the queen, then covered the king and led the nine. That's exactly what I wanted. I played the king of spades, and Mike took the ace and led a spade back, allowing me to claim. He could have given me trouble by leading a heart after taking the ace of diamonds, and even more so by doing it earlier, while his nine of diamonds was still protected. I can't afford to ruff the heart, so I have to sluff a club and let Ken take the king, or give it to my queen. Then I can finish pulling trump and still have one to cover a potential heart lead after I draw out the ace of spades. That way, I only make the three exactly, losing the three aces and the king of hearts if Ken took it.

Today's Work: I probably needed to send some files somewhere, but I never heard anything else about it. Oh well. If they need them, I'll be there Monday to hand them over in person or make a DVD.

I had the car in for service again today, and they said that it just needed a tire rotation and balancing. They told me that the shaking stopped after that, so I'll find out on Sunday. No reason to doubt them, though. It didn't cost much - $40 for the service and $20 for the rental car for the day. The most exciting part of the day was well after I got home, though... I watched the Dark Cloud 2 stream again, and this time, I was invited to join the call. That went on until just a short while ago, and I had a great time. I love participating in LP streams. I really want to run one of my own now, if I can scrounge up the time. Even if it runs really late, it's still worth the fatigue the next day. As long as I'm not working or traveling, anyway.

The end of Record of a Fallen Vampire was good

Today's Manga: Nothing. I found Evangelion: The Shinji Ikari Raising Chronicles 5, and I really want that one, but I didn't feel like buying just one book, and I wouldn't get the chance to read it until after next weekend anyway. I'll buy it then, hopefully along with more books.

Today was more of a chore day than a fun day. I had to do my laundry and get my hair cut, and shaving isn't outside the realm of possibility. Except that some people are watching The Wizard and riffing it, or they should be shortly. Right now, they seem to be riffing the Universal logo. I'm going to balance my checkbook while I watch. Ah, and they've started. Perfect timing.

I went ahead and downloaded my free Steam copy of Portal. Why not? If you haven't yet, it's a great time to become a Steam member and get your copy. It's one of the greatest games I've ever played, it's short, and it's free until the 24th. This is a better deal than the five games for your named price that recently ended. The whole thing is free. Steam, free. Portal, free. 5+ GB of space on your hard drive, free. You can find something to delete that you don't want anymore. And having a Mac is no longer an excuse.

And I have to remember to put my registration in my car, now that I have both. Gotta sticker up before June.

I'm tired. I hope that's good. I didn't get much sleep last night and would like to get some tonight.
