At least he's not a mouth-breather

No special events today... I got my birthday present from Mom, which was $40 worth of any games I wanted. I picked the Dracula X Chronicles for PSP and Sam and Max season 1 for the Wii. Then we came home and watched plenty of Chuck while waiting for Brian to get home for dinner. It's a really good show. Vince from Dexter made an interesting evil coworker/supervisor, but the entire premise of the show was like the anti-John Doe - he knows certain details about things in the CIA's secret files, whereas John Doe knew everything EXCEPT the specifics about people.

I also finally fired up my PSP this morning to play some Chains of Olympus. The controls may take a little getting used to, particularly when it comes to the evasive rolls, but so far, it's a pretty solid God of War game. Also, since the left earbud on my DS headphones seems to have died, having the new PSP ones will come in very handy. And I finally unlocked Mingle mode in The World Ends With You. I may have to try it out when I'm in places where people might be playing wireless DS games... if there are such places. But in rapid succession, I got four new attack pins... a circular shield of some kind, a Masamune, and two Murasame. Cool.

Mom played some Eternal Sonata this evening, and took to the battle system even more quickly than I expected her to. By the end of the session (right before the first boss), she was blocking attacks pretty proficiently and timing special attacks for maximum effect. Still needs a bit of practice with determining distance from the enemies, but even I misjudge my positioning sometimes. The important thing is that she's enjoying the game, and that's what gift-giving is all about - making the recipient happy. It's a shared happiness.

Meanwhile, my effort to keep up with my manga and anime is not happening - the two episodes of Sailor Moon SuperS I watched last night have been it so far this vacation. I may try to watch more tonight or tomorrow, but I really want to hook up my Wii and try the new games I got for it. As for reading the manga magazines... I just don't think it's going to happen. I'll probably bring them back unopened and try to work them into my rotation the way I used to, one a week until I'm caught up.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
