Today's Bridge: Naturally, since I may not be able to make tomorrow's game, I sat out. It was useful, because I sat behind Dan and answered the questions he asked me. Unfortunately, he didn't ask as many as I'd have liked. I'd have advised him that leading a suit that declarer and dummy were out of, but his partner still had, was a bad idea. He's got Euchre firmly lodged in his thinking-part, and we need to clear it out of there. That, and we all thought he understood the fundamental rules of the game, but he doesn't. It's time for the full tutorial, starting with the scoring.

Today's Work: A brief meeting to go over the sad (including the ever popular "When we tried to kill the system processes, they didn't die." WHY ARE YOU IN R SYSTEM, KILLING R PROCESSES? THAT'S NOT AN OPERATOR FUNCTION, NOR IS IT A SYSTEM REQUIREMENT! THAT'S A BOFH TACTIC! The Bastard IV&V Testers from Hell?) and more training. Only two real lessons to go, I think, and then the summary and survey. I'm almost almost there!

Today's Meme: Okay, I skipped last night because I spent way too much time writing the Fringe story reduction (hope someone enjoyed it... the lack of comments saddens me almost as much as IV&V complaining that we followed our undocumented Safety requirements), but breakofdawn wants to know ten things that I love starting with the letter C. I'm going to get it out of the way so I can hopefully play some video games tonight before bed.

1. C is for Cookie. That's good enough for me. Even if it's only a sometimes food. Sometimes they come up with a flavor I like.
2. Collections. I love collecting things - mostly anime and manga, obviously, but I collect those state quarters in the few cases where I actually acquire quarters in some way. I so rarely use cash anymore that I don't find many, though. Shame about the diminishing seignorage, though.
3. Computers. This is pretty much a given, I think... it's my job, and I still program at home for fun.
4. C, and to a lesser extent, C++. My languages of choice. Granted, I learned C++ first and missed some of its more useful features when I started working in C, but implicit passing by reference and overloading functions really are unnecessary.
5. Carrot cake. I'm not sure why I consider it one of my favorite kinds of cake (possibly second only to banana), but the only problem is that nobody knows what kind of frosting to put on it. I hate almost every frosting that's put on carrot cake. Cream cheese... ugh! I taste good ones so infrequently that I don't even know what they are anymore.
6. Cream cheese. Keep it away from my carrot cake, but on a bagel, there's nothing finer. Except for lox, cucumber, tomato, butter, and various kinds of fish as well as cream cheese.
7. Christmas. It's not so much the presents (some people are almost impossible to find good gifts for) as the chance to have an excuse to go somewhere and be most of a family once a year. We might even manage it this Christmas, although next Christmas, it's unlikely. Depending on who's elected in November, my brother's deployment will either be cut short by quite a bit or extended indefinitely. And I'm not even entirely sure which candidate represents which alternative.
8. Cheesy Gordita Crunch. I don't consider it a proper trip to Taco Bell if I don't have one.
9. Calvin and Hobbes. That was such a great comic strip... why have I not yet read the complete collection I paid so much for?
10. Comedy. Life just wouldn't be the same if it weren't so funny.

There. I even avoided things like "Cool online videos" and cheaty stuff like that. And I didn't mention Cynicism either... not really so much a favorite thing as something I wish I didn't have to resort to. So if anyone wants a letter from me, comment away. Just try not to be commenter 17, 24, or 26... you won't like me if you're 17, 24, or 26.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
