I played a bit of Maximo today. Indeed, it is a 3-D version of Ghouls and Ghosts. I knew that as soon as I took a step and the ground started rising and falling, even before I heard the familiar music and saw Maximo stripped to his underwear after a few hits. I think most of the challenge comes from the camera, which offers no control at all aside from a first-person view, which is unforgiveable in a 3-D game. The right analog stick isn't even used! How do they get away with that? So that's what makes the game so hard - that and the difficulty. Sometimes, I have no idea the enemies are coming, and I can't tell where I need to jump and where I don't.

I'm also watching Monty Python again. It's been a humorous day, with new Nostalgia Critic and Spoony Experiment videos (both excellent, but I think Spoony wins this round), but the real champion was today's Nukees strip. It doesn't even require context.

Curt gave me an idea about swapping out my headset for the USB headset for the PS2 (which I only ever used for Lifeline, and I don't expect I'll be playing that again any time soon) so I could set up Teamspeak to use the headset, and everything else to use the speakers. The best part of the whole experience was moving the USB connection for the speakers (the power source) to the rear USB ports, freeing up the front ports for the wireless receiver and headset so I can sit on the bed and play. Because the tower is on the left side of where the speakers are, I needed to move the right speaker (with the connections) to the left side, so I wanted to swap the speakers in software. Sadly, the config utilities offer no way to do that at all. Believe me, we searched. Finally, we gave up, and I decided to simply try moving the right speaker to the right to see how far the cable would stretch. Surprisingly, it reached all the way to where it had been before, solving all the problems. I suppose it just wouldn't have felt like the end of a vacation if I hadn't wasted most of the day getting here. At least we got free chicken strips at Chick-Fil-A with yet another promotion. They're not bad.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
