The first flight was delayed for about ten minutes, which made the difference between me stopping for food while speedwalking from one end of O'Hare airport to the other and deciding to wait until I got to the hotel. It was the wrong choice... the second flight was delayed for half an hour while they waited for a push crew. I was about to offer to get out and push myself if they'd feed me when they finally got underway. We made up some time somehow, and I got to the hotel at about 4:30. I'm on the third floor, and I don't think there's an elevator, which is a pain when carrying a suitcase and a backpack, but I made it. I got dinner (with leftovers to stick in the fridge for the inevitable late night at the lab) and did my usual online stuff while looking up showtimes at the local theater, where I still had a free pass from the audio problems at the Death Note movie. I chose Hancock because it offered the most promise for my interests, and it didn't disappoint. Granted, it went in a completely different direction from what I was expecting, but that was after delivering what it had offered. The ending was a bit surprising after that, but it WAS a superhero movie, after all. Highly recommended, if only because it was hilarious. I'd almost like to see a prequel, as spoiled as it's been... the movie starts with him already a well-known figure, so it might be neat to see how he made himself known. But it's the Matrix of sequelable movies... the very existence of another Hancock movie would ruin this one.

So, while watching TV with horrible reception, I'll go ahead and bring up the two story ideas I've been kicking around for a while... one was a seed during college, when I was a fan of the Quest for Glory games, and the other came to me in Fort Wayne, when I discovered a bookstore with a respectable manga selection. Not that anyone ever reads this sort of thing, especially in my journal, but if anyone does, I'd like to hear your thoughts on them.

Superhero-ishCollapse )

Okay, that one's not great, but I think this one has potential in the long term.

Random megacrossover-ishCollapse )

So... thoughts? Any response at all to prevent this entry from being a blank void like most of the others? Just something to cheer me up after long days of working at the lab? Anything will be appreciated. Meanwhile, I still have a spamfic to write... and I wrote this entry instead. Bad Nido! Self-indulgence doesn't work when you never get around to writing anything! Expect me to buckle down and have Fall of the Crystal Millennium chapter 3 done sometime by, say, the end of August. At the latest. I really just need to wrap it up somehow. If anyone wants to help with that, or offer to preread when it's done, or help me choose between a few possible endings... maybe by the end of July. If anyone cares.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
