I deposited my check, made my travel arrangements, played a full round and a half of golf, had smooth commutes (even counting the idiots who think 45 is the speed limit, not the road number), and continued my run-through of Secret of Mana with minimal magic (not by choice... I got to Spring Beak and realized I had NO magic at all, and figured I'd take on the snake with only 8 MP for the sprite... fun).

Today's Bridge: I bid very aggressively in the first hand despite my relative weakness because I had five spades, five clubs, and three hearts, and the opponents were bidding diamonds. When Paul supported my spades, I bid all the way up to 4 as a sacrifice, and Steve surprised me by bidding 5D... but Paul surprised me even more by bidding 5S! What's more, we made it... Paul had three clubs to my missing honors and the opponents failed to attack the hearts properly. Steve won the king of spades early and cashed the ace of hearts, setting up my king to cover the heart I couldn't sluff. Then we made two 4C contracts to finish the rubber. For the finale, Ken made a not entirely incorrect but certainly non-optimal lead in 2NT, leading to his partner's heart power instead of his diamonds. The diamonds happened to be an A-Q tenace over Paul's king, which probably would have been good for the set. As usual, we went over the indications that should have clued him in to the diamond lead after the hand.

Work-wise, I'm still doing what I was doing before, but devoting a bit of attention to other problems as well. Fortunately, the other guys on the project are picking up some of the slack there, so even when the mistakes are mine, they're finding them. That's a big help as I work on the problem of determining whether a point is inside a region and keeping track of what's happened and what needs to happen. Two days left, and a third if I really need it. It would be nice not to need it. I could use the excuse to have a day off.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
