Nice long day. Always love those.

Today's Bridge: I invited Ken to sit in with us, but Raymond not only agreed to play; he WANTED to play. His side missed two slams for underbidding, and one of those bids wasn't even game, so we had a shot in the last hand. Kelly faked Steve out by throwing the queen of spades when she knew my king would cover it, so he played Raymond for all the remaining spades and let her have an extra. That hurt us.

Today's Work: A few more things we won't have to do - always good. Our mysterious makefile problems have vanished, and everything seems to be in order so far. I added a new element to the track structure, which is non-trivial, but I didn't really have a way to test it. I'm pretty sure it's got a default value now, but we haven't implemented a way to change that value.

Today's Gaming: A few rounds of golf with Mom. jadestar4 never showed up... I'm beginning to expect that anymore. However, I'm not TOO disappointed, because I found what is probably one of the funniest webcomics I've read in a while. There are a few that crack me up with their daily gags, but none has had so high a hit-to-miss ratio as Darths & Droids, a comic that tells the story of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace as if it were a tabletop roleplaying game gone wrong. The author was directly inspired by DM of the Rings, which I remember reading a bit of some time ago and not liking much. D&D, on the other hand, is hilarious, and not because the movie it was based on is any better. No, I think it's the recasting and reinventing of the story that most helps it not be a complete failure, and the jokes are excellent. And Jar-Jar Binks is a great character. No, really. While that sentence will only ever have any meaning in the context of this strip, that's probably reason enough on its own to give the strip a read. And as of this writing, there are only 77 strips - easy to catch up quickly. Some of my favorites are this one, this one, this one, this one, and this one.
Today's Manga: My Dearest Devil Princess 2, Dorothy of Oz 2, and the first two books of Fairy Tail, which seem to have been released simultaneously. Not a bad idea. While I was at it, I bought the Heroes graphic novel collection 1 and the Clerks comic collection, because I had coupons.

Today's Gaming: A nice, long session of Blue Dragon in which I didn't accomplish much, but I did get a vehicle at long last. Should be fun. Then some Ratchet & Clank Future... beat a level, evolved a few weapons.

Today's Movies: I decided to watch I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry while playing golf, and then was going to watch Good Luck Chuck after dinner, but I decided I wasn't really in a Dane Cook mood. So I watched Dan in Real Life instead. Yes, I know. I didn't know what to expect from the movie, other than Steve Carrell, but it was good. Made me feel like a real jerk, though. I felt miserable after watching the movie, like I normally do after doing something really nasty to someone without intending to. I feel like I should be punished for all the stuff that happened in the movie. Chuck & Larry was just pretty funny, and might or might not help people feel more comfortable about the idea of real life gay marriages. Hard to say.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
