The Fox HD channel is currently showing all of its programming in Spanish. The SD channel is in English. I don't think it's suddenly become a Spanish-language channel, because the banners at the bottom of the screen and all the commercials are in English. Is today some sort of Spanish appreciation day or something? I'm recording this show on my DVR just in case anybody doubts me but has the ability to come here and see it.

Fortune cookie wisdom

Before I forget yet again, I have to relate the contents of the two fortunes I got from my most recent foray into discount takeout Chinese food. The first one seemed rather ironic, but not enough so that I would keep it for quotation purposes. Something like "The great chef knows what it takes to make a dish taste good, and it is patience." Something absurdly long like that. But the second one was when I knew they were really taking the piss: "Eat your vegetable and you'll grow up big and strong like Popeye." No joke; exact quote. I'm not sure what's funnier - the implication that one only ever need eat one "vegetable" to attain Popeye-like stature (and that vegetable need not necessarily be spinach), or the fact that I ate plenty of vegetables, including carrots, celery, green beans, broccoli with cheese, cauliflower, and even the feared and dreaded lima beans, not to mention the lettuce that was inevitable in salads, and yet I'm neither big nor remotely strong. Maybe strong like Wimpy, whose appearance in last weekend's Family Guy made me feel vindicated for my love of his catchphrase: "I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today." Granted, I don't say it that much, but that's because nobody ever got the joke. Now who's laughing? Oh, right... me, because Family Guy made a joke I understood! HA HA HA HA HA!

Today's REAL update

The lab testing concluded well. We got all the data we feel we needed, in recognizable formats, and tomorrow will be the big meeting to discuss where we'll go from here, how we'll get there, and what to do about the gaps where we still don't know where we're supposed to end up. I figure we'll still be tweaking requirements the day before delivery, and management will be expecting engineering to work their magic and have the changes made before they're requested. The sad part is, that's what we're going to have to do. That's engineering! </song-cue>

Today's Dinner: Microwave panini. Not great, but not too bad either.

Today's Gaming: Back to Blue Dragon at last. I've met ther character who I know from the demo will eventually become a fourth party member, and continued building up my party to what will hopefully be a more powerful state. I'm having Shu learn White Magic just so I'll have another healer, Jiro learn all the types of magic, although he's currently building up Monk abilities to give him some useful attacks even when he's a mage, and Kluke is a Guardian because it's got great stats, and her guard/counterattack combination should come in handy, since she's wearing the most powerful Bracelet. I forgot to equip Negotiate before shopping, though... must do that next time. Not like money's tight or anything, but there's always a point in the mid-to-late period of every RPG when you need to stop and accumulate some money because the prices in shops have jumped and you need the best stuff they sell. Then money becomes a moot issue and you never spend any more, but accumulate more and more of it.

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I expect to have even more time to play games in the near future, and maybe longer. I'm trying to spend some of that time writing, but when nobody cares about my stories anymore, there's little motivation.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
