January 4th, 2008

Not a good day in any respect.

This is me, word for word.

Today's Bridge: It was mostly sacrifices on our part. I went for a 5C contract with a 50% chance, as I saw it, and this time, the gamble didn't pay off. Two diamond losers and the ace of clubs absent, and the opponents went for them. Most of our hands were pretty brilliant sacrifices, actually, off one each time when the opponents had a clear advantage, but they managed to make a few hands where we couldn't do anything (with lots of overtricks, or misplays that cost them lots of overtricks), so it was all in their hands. Dan offered to give me lessons in being dealt good cards. I have no idea what he's talking about anymore, except that he's trying to wind me up. I really don't like being wound up.

Today's Work: The first phase of setting up my new process to work with all the other processes in the system seems to have gone okay. I used a very simple version of our basic framework, wrote some notes, and split the files up into even more logical modules. Maybe it'll be worth something eventually. Now I have to modify our existing code to interface with the new stuff properly. The changes are minor, because for now, we don't need to change any outgoing messages. Just the incoming messages.

Today's Super Mario Galaxy: Sort of a spoiler, but mostly just for game mechanicsCollapse )

Today's Mood: I could have gone to Wall Market with Curt to get pillowcases, but I didn't feel like it. There were several factors that contributed to it, so if you think you know why, you're partly right, but you don't have the entire answer.

There was a sharp, stabbing pain in my leg today, which felt exactly like being stabbed with keys - you know the feeling. Except it was behind my wallet pocket, not my key pocket, and it kept coming back no matter how I adjusted my wallet and my pants. I think it was an ingrown hair, agitated by my work pants. Shame my emergency pants are emergency shorts, or I might have tried changing.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
