Moa: The King of Destruction

News you won't want to miss

An AOL representative refusing to let a customer cancel his account, caught on tape. AOL is pretending that this is a one-time thing. I've crossposted this story to bad_service with the rest of my thoughts on the subject.

Proof that some people have WAY too much money: The Old Homestead Steakhouse at the Boca Raton Resot and Club unveils a $100 hamburger. So you pay $40,000 to get a membership, $3,600 in annual dues, and another $124.50 for lunch? At least, out of all that, $10 goes to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. If that kid's smaart, he'll wish for one of those burgers.

A Thai burglar gets drunk and falls asleep under the bed, snoring loudly enough to wake the owner. They make nasal strips for that. He should have stolen some.

Busdicker's ashes buried in his favorite clarinet. Busdicker is the guy's name, but I figured, after the fun we had yesterday with "wiki", it would be fun to see if anyone tried to parse "busdicker" as a verbal noun and what the resulting brain implosion would look like. Oh, also, [insert clarinet joke here].

Drunk driver falls asleep with his foot on the gas and runs his engine so hard it nearly blows up. Fortunately, they heard him snoring and came out to check on him.

In a story that already came from customers_suck, yet another drunk tries to pay for his drinks using a checkbook stolen from one of the bartenders. Actually, he found it at the bar. Naturally, that would be the perfect place to use it, because nobody in the place where it was left would be looking for it.

A high school class organizing a reunion discover $50,000 they didn't know they had. I'm sure that happens all the time. You can probably find that much between the sofa cushions at the Boca Raton Resort and Club.

Today's Bridge: Collapse )

Today's Work: More lessons in simple logic. When using a variable in a loop, the value of the variable needs to be initialized each time through. That wasn't my mistake, though. I just helped track it down.

Today's FFT: I finally took it to that boss. I spread my party out and waited for the assassins to come to me. They charmed Ramza, but the boss got an attack on him and woke him up just in time for the surviving assassin (yes, I worked quickly) to cast Ultima on him. After learning that, I finished her off and got to hitting the boss with Speed Break. A few of those and he was pretty helpless... not that he could do much beforehand. A few rounds of Threaten, and my stealing percentage jumped from 7% to about 45% for most of the coveted Genji equipment. Now to experiment with combining Maintenance and Draw Out. Does it really work?

Today's entertainment: Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. Joel reads the descriptions from the back of video cases... but the videos don't have cases.

Today's dinner: Burger King. We left just as the storm was starting, so we got soaked. But we both had the hankering for fast food, and that's what we had.

Today's cable: It was out when Curt got home, but it came back. And the cable guy showed up later in the evening just to make sure it was back on. Apparently, it is. ^_^

Today's manga: Angel Sanctuary book 5 and a bit of Kaze Hikaru and PhD. I care a lot more about Angel Sanctuary now that things are happening that make some sense.
