Today's Bridge: I got lucky in a 1NT when all of the vital cards were onside, then horribly unlucky in 2NT when all of the vital cards were offside and I made some bad decisions. Too bad we can't save overtricks for when we need them. I had S A-Q-x-x H Q-x D Q-10-x-x C K-x-x, so I opened 1D. Ryan responded 1H, and Dan cut in with 1S. 1NT was the perfect rebid, and Ryan bid 2H, which I corrected to 2NT. His S x-x H A-8-x-x-x D 8-x-x C A-Q-x was about what I pictured. The seven of diamonds lead ran to Dan's jack and my queen, and I already felt like I'd made a mistake. I ran the queen of hearts to Dan's king, and he led a spade. Naturally, I put in the queen, losing to the king. This was definitely a mistake. Kevin led back a heart, which I ducked, and threw a club on the next spade, which I ducked again. I had to take the following spade and cross to dummy to try the ace of hearts - naturally, the suit failed to split, so all I could do was cash my clubs and concede off two. Ducking the first spade would give me an extra trick, preventing Kevin from setting up his diamonds - I'd get a second diamond to go with the two spades, three clubs, and ace of hearts.

Today's Work: We got to the bottom of the problem, which was exactly what I suspected, and found a solution that fixes the new problem while keeping the solution to the problem we were originally trying to solve when we broke it. In short, good things happened and now we can move forward with the other things that aren't getting done and thus prevent me from getting my work done.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
