Indeed, I felt up to making the trip to see Mom this weekend, and it went pretty well. We played a whole lot of Dominion and found some amazing combinations, like Lurker/Prince (even though the only card remotely useful for Prince was Steward) and Swindler/Counting House (with no trashing) and even Black Market/Fairgrounds. We even had a round where I bought the final Curse to bring the game to an end because I knew I was that far ahead and Mom might have a big turn coming up. (In another hand, I used Salvager to trash a Province for the coins to buy the last Province and another Victory card.) We also played a few games of Machi Koro - the expanded version where the Moon Tower is grossly overpowered. After the first game, we took that out and just played with the remaining landmarks.
We managed to get into Half Price Books (they were closed when we first went due to technical difficulties, and the guy who picked up the phone when I called later seemed confused about why I'd call to ask whether they were open), where I found a copy of a Legacy of Kain PS1 collection, Myst: End of Ages (I've got it on GOG, but now I have a physical copy as well), and a Bridge quiz book by Eddie Kantar. I got to share my recipe for swordfish steak with Mom, but she didn't like the strong taste of the fish. We'll have to try it with tuna steak later.
I got home with plenty of time to get the grocery shopping done and unpack most of the stuff from the trip - the games are still sitting in the living room, but there's no hurry to get those back to the basement.
