Today's Bridge: Dan C. was available, so he and I took on Nathan and Anna. We started with a 3NT, S Q-10 H A-K-Q-x-x D x-x C Q-x-x-x facing S A-K-x-x-x H 6 D A-J-10-9-x C x-x. Probably not the safest contract, but we were at the three level before we found the misfit. Anna let the opening club lead run to my queen, so I tested the spades and they broke. I cashed them all, while both opponents threw hearts. Naturally, all five of my hearts were good, and they both held on to a top club, setting up both of dummy's last diamonds. They then went for a pair of contracts, off two each time, and ended with a slam. It was S Q-10-8-x H J D A-J-10-x-x C Q-x-x facing S A-K-x-x H A-K-Q-x-x C A-K-x-x played at 6S. The J-9-x-x of spades were under declarer's holding, and the nine took the final trick, but Anna ruffed a couple of diamonds, cashed her winners, and finished things up with aplomb. I think she got lucky on the distribution, especially in clubs, but she made it and that's what counts, particularly for new players.
Today's Work: I could barely stay awake, even though I remain incapable of falling asleep, and the usual medical issues were worse than ever. I probably should have stayed home today. I kept on researching the stuff I need to work on next week, and that was about it.
For a lark, I gave Calamity Ganon a try tonight. I have no idea what to do, but I'm sure there's something I just haven't thought of.
