Today's Bridge: It was a shutout, although I didn't get to play any hands and I think Jerry only got to play one, if that. I started with a very strong 1NT, but Dan C. jumped to 3C. I would have bid slam, but I was flat and had three clubs to the queen, so I raised to 4C, and he passed that. It turned out that he had made one of the strongest bids we have intending it to be a pre-empt. At least he made the contract, but 3NT was a better contract and likely a laydown - I don't remember what our status was in hearts. I had three to the queen - A-K high in both other suits. Ken then went for a thin 4S and a misjudged 3NT (Jerry had responded with a long suit to the king and no outside strength), missing both. We finished our game with a 3NT, then the rubber with 4S with an overtrick. Finally, we threw in the last hand and dealt a goulash - Ken ended up in 3S and probably lucked out, because Dan had to keep leading spades to avoid leading from his A-K-x-x-x-x of hearts and setting up Jerry's only suit. He had clubs as well, but Ken had none and couldn't get to them. Off four in the end. That's a goulash.
Today's Work: I spent way too long trying to figure out why the feature I'd removed from the build was still there when the entire DLL that contained it wasn't installed. The COM interface was hooking the DLL in the build directory even though it wasn't installed. Sometimes, COM is too sophisticated for its own good.
Putting away my laundry took up almost the entire evening, so it's already bedtime. At least I only have to do that about once a month.
