I really need to be up early tomorrow. It will never happen.

Today's Bridge: Sam was on my right today, which was worth a fair bit for my side. I declared 1NT with only S 9-x-x-x H Q-x D A-K-J-x C A-K-x facing S 10-x-x H J-x D 10-x-x-x C Q-x-x-x. Dan H. led a heart, but Sam played low and let me have the queen. I cashed the ace of diamonds, then played the clubs. When they split 3-3, I was home, and when the queen of diamonds came out, I got two overtricks as well. It turned out that the hearts were 6-3, so I would have been off four with best defense. He ended the day declaring 3NT - he opened 1D-2C-2S-3C-3NT, holding S A-K-10-x H A-9-x-x D ?-x-x-x C A facing S 7-x-x H J-10-x D K-x C K-Q-J-7-6. I don't remember whether he had the queen of diamonds or not. From my S 4-2 H x-x D A-J-x-x C 10-8-5-4-3, I led the fourth club. He cashed the spade honors, then led the ten of diamonds - I probably should have ducked, since he clearly wasn't going to run the ten, but I covered as a matter of habit. I threw my ten of clubs under the jack, and he led the seven to my eight. I exited with a heart, having nothing better to do, and Dan C.'s queen lost to the ace. Sam tried another heart, but Dan took the king, cashed two spades, and had the final heart for the setting trick when Sam misguessed what to throw from dummy. I suppose I should have cashed the ace of diamonds when I had the chance, but I didn't want to set up the queen if he had it. Even if he didn't, he had a line to make it by leading hearts from his hand twice to establish the nine, ending up with four clubs, two spades, two hearts, and the king of diamonds. He's taking the lessons well, so I think his skills will improve.

Today's Work: We had another problem come up during testing, so we spent part of the day looking into that while still working on the assignments we already had. I finally figured out my conundrum from yesterday, only to discover another problem that I needed to fix along the way. We're still fairly on track to get everything finished by the end of the week, but we'll have to collaborate on a few things that are falling behind.

I had a weird moment this evening when my laptop failed to connect to the network properly. I rebooted it, it took forever to come up (like after an update, although it didn't seem to have updated), and I had to unplug the HDMI cable to get it to work, but once I'd done that, it was back to normal. I give up trying to understand technology.
