Today's Bridge: The first two hands were goulashes - the second one saw me holding a 1NT opening hand, but Dan C. jumped to 5C and with my S A-Q-x H Q-x-x-x D K-Q-x C A-x-x, I felt comfortable doubling. It was all me on defense for the off one. Unfortunately, they put together a pair of partscores that we couldn't really oppose, and I got lucky in the final 3D - I had S Q-x-x H A-K-x D J-10-x-x-x C A-10 to Jerry's S A-K-x H J-x-x-x-x D 9-x-x C x-x I misdiagnosed the opening heart lead, so when Dan C. took the first diamond trick and led back a heart, I rose with the ace and Ken ruffed with the remaining low diamond. He cashed the top two diamonds, then exited with a club, which Dan let ride to my ten. I could only cash out my remaining tricks, starting with the spades and leaving the diamonds until last, and hope that Dan had failed to count the hearts. He had, and he threw his final winning heart to leave me with the last one. But that and the sets we'd scored along the way weren't enough.

Today's Work: Largely getting involved with stuff that other people were working on, but when I returned to what I'd been doing yesterday, there was something very wrong. I'm still trying to determine exactly what it is. There may be a larger problem at work than anything I could have foreseen. Then I had to drive home through a severe thunderstorm. I made it, but even though I left earlier than usual, I got home at around the usual time. It's still storming out there, but I think it's mostly thunder and lightning, and not much rain. It still plays havoc with my TV, making me think the HDMI issues I've been having might be related to power surges. Not sure what I can do about that, though, if anything.

I'm writing this before the debate because I won't have time afterward, and I don't want to be writing an entry while it's happening. I plan to livetweet it as usual. It should be hilarious.

Signature

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
