Today's Bridge: We swept the first rubber - the opponents found a fit in 4S that they didn't have the power to make, and then Ken opened 1NT when I had a hand at the very bottom end of the invitation range. I invited, he accepted, and both of our five-card minors ran for two overtricks. Then I opened 1D with S A-K-J-x H 3 D J-x-x-x C K-Q-x-x, and Ken bid 2NT, our modified Jacoby raise that works for minors. That's a great fit, so I cue-bid 3S, and he bid 4D, indicating no cue-bids to make. I assumed that he must have solid diamonds, then, or perhaps enough top hearts to dispense with some losers, so I raised to 5D. (He also hadn't capped his strength anywhere along the way, so the raise was pretty compulsory.) He had S x-x H A-K-x D K-Q-10-x-x C 10-x, so the only real danger was giving up a ruff when Jerry led the ace of clubs, then switched to a low spade. I thought it was too dangerous to expect the spades to split 4-3, which would allow me to sluff the potential club loser, so I just ran a diamond to the ace, and when Jerry followed to the club return, I finished drawing trump and claimed. That was about as far as we went, though - the opponents had an easy 3NT, even when Dan H. blocked the diamond suit and cut himself off from two of them. It's a mistake I'd probably make, but at least I've read enough to know to watch for it. I made a 1NT opener with an overtrick even though Jerry had long spades to run, but we couldn't finish the game. We ended with a 3S that I thought was pretty reasonable, but I misguessed the trump split and gave up the queen in addition to the four tricks I had to lose. There's a bit of interest in Precision bidding, but Ken wants me to write a flowchart or summary sheet for it. I don't think it's going to be that easy, nor will the flowchart be of much use if people don't understand the conventions. We'll see how it goes.

Today's Work: I made it, and I went back to the review I was doing. Things have been busy while I was away.

I don't know why, but I found the CPAP really uncomfortable last night and eventually just removed it so I could get some sleep. I probably need to clean and replace the filters. I'll try to remember that tomorrow.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
