My new lunchbag is working pretty well

Today's Bridge: The first hand was by far the best. 2H-P-3H to my S A-10-x H A D K-J-10-x-x C A-K-x-x. I could probably have doubled for takeout, but I figured it made the most sense to go straight to my suit, 4D. Ken raised his own pre-empt to 4H, and I doubled for penalty - when Dan C. led the ace of diamonds before switching to a club, it was off three. We made a game after that, but things turned against us from that point. I jumped into an auction late with 2H, S K-x-x H Q-x-x-x-x D x-x-x C K-x and Dan not only jumped to 4H, but redoubled. I can't fault the leap to game with S x-x H A-J-x-x D K-Q-9-x C A-x-x, but the redouble on the basis of "we couldn't be off more than one" I can't agree with. Redoubling is more for when you're so confident that you think overtricks are likely. I was a passed hand on this one, so 4H was more like 50/50. In this case, the heart finesse lost, so it went with two spades and the ace of diamonds for the predicted off one. The opponents two-putted a game when Brent grossly underbid support for another 2H opener, then finished with 4H. Finally, I picked up S 7-4-3-2 H x D x C A-J-10-9-8-7-5. I opened 3C, Dan responded 3NT, and he expected me to correct a closeout bid. He had nothing to speak of in spades, the ace of diamonds, the ace of hearts, and Q-x of clubs - the queen went through after Brent spent about a minute thinking about which club to play, then he dropped the ace instead of taking the very, very marked finesse. That killed the clubs and he was off three instead of making an easy contract. 3C is likewise pretty simple, and depending on his actual holding, 4C might have been doable, but how could I bid that over 3NT?

Otherwise, things were fairly normal. I just made it to work on time, as usual, and spent the entire day catching up on the last month with a brief divergence into doing the new stuff that will be due soon. I'm forcing myself to eat meals early in hope that it will get me back on track soon, and I'm starting to feel appropriately tired, but I have a few bills to take care of before bed - I had a lot of cleanup to do this evening.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
