Learning my way around an unfamiliar area

Today was a really fun day. My hosts showed me how to use the local mass transit system, and we had lunch in a giant food court with dozens of specialty food shops, then went to a giant bookstore that was largely arranged as a maze. Even though my suitcase is already packed to bursting, I've finished two of the four books I brought with me (admittedly, I was already almost finished the first, but the final Dexter book was a very fast read), so I was interested in a small book that would still provide enough material to keep me occupied. I ended up buying two because my hosts were having fun looking around and when I see something I want, I can't help buying it. I'll work something out. When we got back to their house, we watched Ghosts With Shit Jobs, which I think they got into by the end, and then I packed up the car and moved to a hotel room - both of my hosts will be busy tomorrow, and rather than sit around at their house or spend the day with no home to return to, I've got a home base now and can explore at my leisure, or just stay here and putz around on the computer. I need to do laundry in any case. Another plus is having hotel breakfast available in the mornings again. And I'm just a few blocks away from my hosts, so when they have free time, we can still hang out and go places. I'm just going to have to start using sunblock - I thought my T-shirts would protect me, but the back of my neck is badly sunburnt. Nothing I can do about it now but treat it as best I can and prevent it from getting any worse. Fortunately, there's a local drugstore where I can buy something to put on it.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
