Today's Bridge: We got off to a bad start, as the opponents made a game in two hands, then two partscores with a bunch of overtricks, but then Dan C. kind of fell apart. He declared 3D and forgot what suit was trump twice. (Not that he would have made the contract by ruffing - I had four diamonds to the queen.) Finally, I picked up S x-x H A-Q-10-9-x-x-x D Q-x C A-Q, and when Kevin opened 1D to my right, I bid 4H out of desperation even though the suit was a little weaker than I'd have liked, and I had no singleton. Kevin doubled, but fortunately, Ken had S K-J-x-x H K-x-x D x-x-x C x-x-x, which was just what I needed. Dan started with a diamond to Kevin's ace and king, and Kevin cashed the ace of spades before leading a third diamond. I could afford to ruff with the queen, although Dan turned up with a third diamond, and I crossed to the king of hearts, anticipating that if either opponent had all three hearts, it would be Kevin, and I could finesse out his jack. But hearts split 2-1, so I pulled them, crossed to the king of spades, and ran the obvious club finesse to make the contract. Feeling emboldened, I threw it all away in the last hand - the auction went 1D-Dbl-3D to me, and with only a jack to my name, I bid my four-card spade suit. That was Ken's short suit, and with seven trump and only the king for honors, our nine-card club suit was useless. The opponents had four or five diamonds in the bag, but off four doubled vulnerable wasn't worth it.

Today's Work: The task lead came back, so things are moving again. We've all got things to do, and they're getting done little by little.

I didn't sleep much, so I got to work early and made it home earlier than usual. Cooking proper meals for myself takes a bit longer. But now I can watch TV while cooking again, so that's a plus. Some of my dishes are missing, and I had to throw away most of my food storage containers because they were storing mold and I don't want to try cleaning them, but I have enough of most things left. My life will be back to normal eventually.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
