Today's Bridge: It wasn't a great showing, as Dan C. and I bid several contracts and failed to make them. I think he gave up a makeable one, and I was a bit upset when I bid a perfectly makeable 3NT and he took it out into 4D. I raised to game because it seemed to be expected, but with S A-K-x H Q-J-x D K-J-x-x-x C x-x facing S Q-x-x H A-x D A-Q-10 C Q-x-x-x-x, it depended on the king of hearts being right, and it wasn't. 3NT is guaranteed - as soon as I get the lead, I have nine tricks, and the opponents can't possibly take more than four clubs regardless of the distribution. I just don't play the queen until it's guaranteed to take a trick. Against 4-2 distribution or better, there aren't more than four clubs for them to take, and if it's 5-1 or 6-0, the split will come to light soon enough that I'll know exactly when to take the queen. In the end, we managed a 4S, set the opponents a bit, and by the time they managed a game, we were barely 30 points ahead. But that was that.

Today's Work: They didn't get me my computer, so I'll have to install the programs I want to evaluate on my own personal computer tomorrow and evaluate them that way. It happens.

I had a brief run at Dark Souls 2 this evening, during which I found the final area, but I'm not supposed to go there yet. Nothing in particular seemed to stop me, though. I'll try some more another time. I was just impressed I finally made it that far. I also have three medical offices to call tomorrow - they all left messages for me, one on my cell phone while it was out of range (and I didn't even get the message until the next morning) and two at home while I wasn't here to answer. Lots to do tomorrow, I guess.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
