I probably didn't ramble enough, either.

Today's Bridge: Success, I think. The opponents started with 3C, then 1D, which Ken passed because it wasn't enough for game. But then we struck back with 4S, then a 1NT followed by 3NT. The 3NT was the one I got to play, with S 8-x-x H A-K-x-x D x-x C K-Q-J-x. Ken opened 1D, and I jumped to 2H because my hand is at the very bottom end of a jump shift. He bid 2S, predictably, so I bid 2NT with a good stopper in the fourth suit. He decided to rebid the diamonds, so I returned to 3NT. I figured the opening lead would be a club to the ace, and I was right. Ken's hand was S A-Q-9-x H J-x D A-K-10-x-x C x-x, and the club lead gave me eight tricks. I think my best option would have been to lose a diamond trick first, or perhaps simply to lead toward dummy and cover whatever LHO played, because losing the trick to RHO is safe. I don't want LHO leading a spade through, because if the finesse loses, I might run out of spade stoppers and still have to lose the lead in diamonds if they split 4-2. Instead, I tried the spade finesse and it worked, so I cashed my nine and conceded the rest. In the second rubber, they started with a 4H that looked flimsy but made, and then a 3NT that looked like it should make but failed. From S K-x-x H K-Q-10-6 D x-x-x C K-x-x, I led the king of hearts into H A-J-8-x-x-x D Q-x-x C A-Q-x-x. Dan C. let me have it while Ken played the nine, so I led the six, hoping to pull the heart entry that I knew Dan still had. He played the eight and dropped the seven under it, cleverly getting that entry without losing his tenace, and all he needs to do here is cash the ace of hearts and pull my last one to establish two more while he still has the ace of clubs as an entry. But he exited in diamonds instead, and never did establish the hearts, even when the club finesse worked. He ended up throwing away the extra clubs on spades, so when I got in with the king of spades, I threw him in with my last club and he had to lead hearts to my queen for the setting trick.

Today's Work: I talked to a few more people about last week's problem, and by putting together a few pieces of what they'd all given me, I came up with a solution. It's largely learning how the tools work and testing things for a while.

I lost most of the evening because I saw a video that inspired a terrible parody. I didn't do a very good job of recording it, but not doing a second take was part of the parody. I would need a tripod if I were to do something like that again.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
