Today's Bridge: I partnered with Bruce, which usually means I need to be at the top of my game. We didn't get much to work with, though. We had a chance to set their 4H, but the key was in the diamond holding - Dan H. had J-x as declarer and K-Q-x was in dummy. He ran the jack, and Bruce covered with the ace, allowing him to use the king as an entry and throw his spade loser on the queen. If he holds up the ace once and covers the second round, we get the spade trick as well. It doesn't hurt to hold up if declarer has the singleton jack, because then he has no entry to dummy at all and can't get the diamonds anyway. The rubber picked up a bit when I overcalled 2H with S x H 10-9-8-x-x-x D A-x C K-x-x-x. Bruce raised me to 3H with S K-Q-x H A-Q-x-x-x D Q-x-x C Q-x or so. I thought it was far too strong to stop short of game, whatever it was. The hearts were offside, so I lost one of those as well as a club and a spade. Then I finished the game with 1NT when Bruce bid spades instead of hearts despite being 4-4. We had an eight-card heart fit that would have made a good trump suit. Finally, I decided to sacrifice in 5D because Bruce didn't support my six-card heart suit - he had three of them. Then he failed to pull trump and ruffed away the hearts instead of setting them up, ending off far more than was necessary. It was still a fun day.

Today's Work: Even more research. It's always research, but now I'm researching a specific upgrade I plan to implement early next week.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
