Today's Bridge: We got pretty thoroughly trounced, and I doubt there was anything we could have done about it. The last hand, after the opponents had won two straight rubbers, though, was pretty amusing. I had S A-Q H Q-J-10-9 D A-J-10-x C A-x-x, so I opened 1NT. Kevin and Dan C. both passed, and Ken doubled. I considered redoubling, but I figured it wasn't going to be a very pleasant hand, so I passed. Kevin took out the double to 2D, Ken bid 2H, Kevin bid 3C, and Ken went to 4H. I just stayed quiet, even though doubling 4H was tempting and wouldn't be giving away any information the opponents didn't already have available. It turned out that Ken thought the 2D bid was a transfer to hearts and had four of them to the A-K, while Kevin had a couple of queens and two little hearts. I even had obvious exit leads in the trump suit - I started with the queen to Ken's king, let him run a diamond to the queen, a heart back to his ace, and I believe a third heart to my jack. When Dan also followed suit, I pulled the last trump, then exited with a low club to the queen. Ken tried a diamond to his king, but I covered and ran the remaining two diamonds, as well as the ace of clubs. I think I then exited with my last club to get a spade lead into my tenace for the last two. Off five would have been really nice doubled, but it was still a learning experience - systems are not on over your double of the opponents' notrump.

Today's Work: More of the documentation, which we pretty much rushed through to get it all done.

My guest is at the hospital yet again, and I have no idea when to expect them to be done because they're not answering their phone. They may have run out of battery, in which case I guess I'll get a full night of sleep. I'll probably get a text just as I manage to drift off in a few hours. Either way, I don't really like the idea of driving in the dark on roads that have been snowed on all day, even if the temperature's still barely above freezing. Especially the roads to this hospital.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
