Today's Bridge: Again, I don't remember much because work took my mind away from the game, but the opponents won the first rubber while we only managed a couple of sets and a 4S. One of those sets was a bit embarrassing - Dan C. didn't cash the thirteenth heart for his ninth trick in 3NT because he thought one of us had started with five of them. Kevin outbid us to 4C on the final hand and I was tempted to double, because we had most of the power, but I didn't. Good thing, too - he made it.

Today's Work: I took a step back from the low-level driver code I was staring at and looked for other places where the problem might be. It was a pretty quick job to narrow it down from there, and I found the error and a pretty obvious way to fix it, but I didn't know immediately whether it might cause other problems. Fortunately, one of the other people on the project had spent the day running diffs between the version before the problem appeared and the following one, and I found where the problem had been introduced and a reasonable explanation for why it had happened. With that information, I was much more confident in my solution, and it definitely solves the problem we were given. This is a moment when I can take pride in my work.

There's a weird pain in my left side that's been there for a while, and I'm a little worried about it. It might be because I ate a bad avocado this morning - it was ripe as far as I could tell, but even after I cut it in half, I couldn't separate the halves, and the inside was really hard. I ate it anyway because it was breakfast, but maybe I shouldn't have. I guess I'll find out. At least I know it's not appendicitis.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
