Today's Bridge: Most of the rubber didn't go our way, particularly a 2D I bid when I thought the opponents had a lot more than 1NT available. I'm sure they did, but I misguessed the trump at trick twelve and went off three. Vulnerable but not doubled, at least. I was left in 3D with S Q-x-x H J-x-x D A-Q-J-9-x-x C x facing S K-J-x H 9 D K-x-x C A-K-x-x-x-x or so. Jerry led a heart to Kevin's ace, and Kevin probably had no better option than a diamond (the ten, I believe), but I took the ace, ruffed a heart, cashed the ace of clubs and ruffed a club back to my hand, and ruffed my last heart with the king of diamonds. I ruffed a club high, finding a 3-3 split, and cashed two more diamonds even though I didn't need the second round, just because I could. Finally, I led a low spade to the jack, which won, allowing me to sluff both of my spades on the established clubs. Had Jerry taken the ace, I would ruff the return with my remaining diamond and lead another spade to the king to get to the clubs. I don't think there's a defense that can beat 5D (Maybe leading trump on the opening lead and again when in with the ace of hearts? I think I can just ruff one heart with the king and sluff the other on the king of clubs, then ruff a club to establish the suit and cross in spades to get the rest, not that I need them because I get two spades no matter what), and it's only the two missing aces that stop 6D. Had we bid the game, we would have had the rubber, but the bidding went 1C-1D-3C-3D, and Dan passed what was technically a forcing auction to 3NT, which was the result I was expecting. 4D I would have raised to 5, and a direct jump to 5D was probably a bit much but would have gotten us there.

Today's Work: I was really late today, so I took yet another hour off, but there was some interesting stuff to do with the remaining time. I got to revisit some things I worked on a while ago, and then I spent the afternoon reviewing end-user license agreements. Yeah, those things you click Agree to skip without looking at them. That was actually pretty interesting, although none of the ones I looked at actually had answers to the specific questions we're asking. I may have to contact some companies to ask for more information. That's a thing I can do during my work time. Exciting!

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
