Yep, talking about the weather

Today's Bridge: This time, it was the opponents' day for the most part. They made two slams and a game that we couldn't oppose (and Ken even doubled the first slam on A-K of hearts when Dan C. had a heart void), but stopped short in two of a major twice and made three overtricks each time. We snagged two games between those, fortunately, and one was mine. I had S K-Q-x-x-x H A-J-x-x D x C Q-x-x - not all that strong, but when I opened 1S in fourth seat and Ken jumped to 3S, I felt it was worth raising to game. Ken had S A-x-x-x H Q-10-x-x D A-x-x C x-x or so - I took the opening diamond lead to prevent the opponents from switching to clubs while I still had an unavoidable heart finesse to negotiate, counted the ruffs I'd need, and pulled two rounds of trump ending on the board, to which Dan C. in the east seat showed out. Figuring that Kevin couldn't hurt me with his remaining trump, I led the queen of hearts, and Dan showed out on that too. At that point, I figured it was safe to let it run to the king, and Kevin returned a diamond, which I ruffed. It was a simple matter then to pull the last trump, cash my hearts, and give up two club tricks to take the last two spades in a crossruff. Ken pulled together the game that gave us the rubber when I regrettably, yet again, forgot that his jump to 4H over my clubs was an ace-asking bid. At least we wouldn't have made 6C, the target contract. 5C would probably have been easy, though.

That's probably about as interesting as my day got, though. It snowed a little.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
