I finally found my pumpkin snacks.

Today's Bridge: We only had four people, so I'll get to play again tomorrow, but today went pretty well. I had S K-x H A-K-x D A-K-x C A-10-x-x-x or so... that distribution with 21 points. I opened 2NT and Dan H. raised me to 3NT with S Q-J-x H Q-x-x D Q-x-x-x C K-x. It was a bit tricky given the 5-1 club split, but I got my nine. There was a rather interesting hand where Jerry passed, Dan H. opened 1D, Paul overcalled 1S, I passed (S x-x-x H J-x-x D 8-7-3 C A-J-x-x was barely enough for 1NT and offered no spade stopper), Jerry jumped to 3H, Paul bid 4C, and Jerry raised to 5C. I certainly couldn't double that, and Dan didn't either. Given the bidding, I started with a low diamond. Jerry's hand was S Q-x H A-Q-10-x-x D x-x C K-10-x-x or so, just not enough to open the bidding but worth a jump on the response. Dan had the aces of spades and diamonds but didn't think that was enough to double, especially given that I'd passed his opening bid, and Paul gave me an extra club trick by leading from his hand to the king. When Dan showed out, I had to gloat a bit. After that club trick, two diamond tricks, two spade tricks, and two heart tricks (the ace, then the queen covered and ruffed), dummy was left with C 10-x-x H 10-x-x and I had S x H J D 8 C A-J-8. Paul probably had a chance to save off two by crossruffing, but he led a low club to his queen. I covered with the ace and ran the jack of clubs, giving him an opportunity to save off three by throwing the ten from dummy (I probably exit in diamonds, and he can't get back to his hand without ruffing, giving me my eight en passant), but he left it there, so when I led my last club, the ten swallowed his nine and he was forced to lead a heart (the ten) to my jack. I exited with a diamond to Dan's last diamond, and he had the nine of hearts remaining for the final trick and off five. We finished the rubber in the next hand, and the opponents reached 5D in a contested auction. Paul opened 1D, I overcalled 1H, Jerry bid 2D, Dan bid 2H, and Paul jumped to 4H. Jerry corrected to 5D, and we'd once again forgotten that the 4H jump over a minor is ace-asking. However, I had both minor aces, which was enough to double. Sadly, Dan had stretched his response quite a bit, so the two aces were the only tricks we took.

Today's Work: More grinding at the problem I'm working on. It almost compiles, which would probably provide the minimum of functionality, but I either need to stub out a function or change an extension. I'll have to decide which to do based on what the base class provides. Then my tire pressure light came on during the drive home, but when I checked the tires, they were fine. I guess it's another thing I'll just have to keep in mind tomorrow.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
