Today's Bridge: Kevin and I teamed up against Dan C. and Paul, and we didn't get an opportunity to try the new 1NT auction. (Although Kevin had a hand for a 1NT opener - I opened and Dan overcalled before it got to him. It was a rather interesting auction - I had S K-x H A-J-x-x D J-x-x C K-Q-x-x or so, so I opened 1C, Dan overcalled 1H, Kevin responded 2D, and I bid 2H to indicate that I had hearts stopped but not spades. Kevin had A-Q-x of spades and took the invite to 3NT, making it with an overtrick.) We set what would have been the rubber hand in 3NT, barely, and the final hand was the climax, as it often is, but in a much bigger way. I had S K-J-10-x-x H x-x D A-x C 10-9-x-x or so, and Kevin opened 1C, Paul overcalled 1H, I responded 1S, Dan bid 2H, I think Kevin jumped to 3S, and Paul bid 4H, so I took the risk of 4S. Dan doubled that, and Kevin redoubled. It was a huge gamble with his S A-Q-x-x H Q-10-x D Q-x C K-Q-8-7. The opening lead was the jack of clubs to the king and ace, and Paul cashed the king of hearts before switching to a low club, which ran to the seven. I pulled trump in two rounds, then crossed to my now-established nine of clubs to lead a heart toward the queen. When Dan furnished the jack, even when Paul covered with the ace, I could throw my losing diamond on the ten and make the contract. Sort of made up for my leading the ace from a six-card club suit, establishing Dan's six to the K-Q-J rather handily.

The most important thing about today is that the doctor's office called me back to let me know that I should stop taking Celexa and that there shouldn't be a problem with quitting cold turkey. If there is, I can take a half-dose for a week or so to detox. So tonight will be my first night off the pills, and we'll see what happens. At least I'm already planning to work from home and only drive across town to therapy. I already feel a bit better.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
