Taking time where I can make time

Today's Bridge: It didn't go as well as yesterday - aside from a four-trick set in 3D and a 3S that I made, we didn't score much and the opponents made two games, including a 5NT where Ken stopped short of a slam and Paul accordingly stopped short of making the tricks. The finesses worked, but he covered his ten of hearts with the ace and established my nine. The 3S was S A-x-x-x H J D K-J-x-x-x C K-x-x - I believe Ken opened 1D, I passed (nothing worth bidding, really), and I think Paul bid 1H and Ken jumped to 3D. I bid 3S, figuring that my partner had to have four spades and I had some values, and that was the final contract. Dan H. had S Q-J-10-2 H 10-9-x-x D Q-x C Q-J-x. The opening lead was a heart to the ace, and when Ken saw my jack, he switched to a low club, which ran to the queen. I went for the trump finesse, and Ken played the king immediately, hoping to trick me into thinking it was a singleton. I pulled a second round anyway, leaving only the nine out, then led the queen of diamonds to Ken's ace. He led another low club to the jack, and I crossed to the king of diamonds, sluffed the club on the jack of diamonds, then ruffed a low diamond with the two when Paul sluffed a club. A heart ruff back to my hand, and I led the king of clubs, which Paul conveniently ruffed with the nine. I was going to ruff with the ten anyway, so that just left a heart ruff back to my hand to lead the final diamond, which Ken hadn't kept enough to cover. As the cards lie, the spade finesse works and I think 4S is solid, with the opponents taking only their three aces.

Today's Work: I pretty much got done with the work I need hardware to test, and the hardware's not set up yet. I've got one more thing to work on tomorrow, but I'm skeptical of whether it will work or not. Nothing to do but try it and see what happens.

I stopped on the way home to buy some things that we forgot on Sunday, particularly cream to make chicken curry. That was dinner, and it was very good. It also gave me the chance to catch up on some computer stuff I've been neglecting. Friday should be more of that, but it was a good respite nonetheless.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
