Today's Bridge: I thought I wouldn't get to play today, but they decided to wait for me and I drew in. Aside from a hand where I was pretty much forced to respond to Paul's 1C with S x-x H x-x-x-x D Q-x-x-x-x C x-x and ended up in 2NT off four (likely due to blocking the diamonds, but there wasn't much chance of establishing them anyway), I think we did pretty well. They made a 3NT along the way that we couldn't stop, and I was surprised they didn't take any overtricks with the excesses of power they had. We started with a 3S where I was sad to stop short, but I just made it, and then I opened with S 10-7-6-5-4-3-2 H A-x D A-x C K-x. What do you open with that? It's too strong for 3S, 2S isn't pre-emptive enough, 1S doesn't give me much chance to describe my distribution (especially if Paul has nothing to respond with), and I don't have the trump honors to start in 4S. I ultimately chose 3S, and Paul passed with S K-Q-9 H K-x-x-x D K-x C A-x-x-x. Without the partscore, I think he bids 4S, and then we go 4NT-5S-6S. It's cold unless my RHO has all three missing trump, in which case we have no hope. Instead, LHO had them all, so I led up to the king, crossed back to my hand, and led through the A-J to my Q-9 to lose nothing but the ace. I made 3H, and then the opponents went up to 4D to keep us out of 3S - I think we took the first five tricks and still had the ace of spades for off three. Paul didn't double, but diamonds were their only suit, so they had nowhere to run.

Today's Work: The mechanism I planned out yesterday turned out to be a bit easier to implement than I'd expected, and it worked the way I assumed it would. I'm really beginning to appreciate the way this software was put together - it's confusing, but very adaptable, especially once you know how everything works.

And that's about it from me. I should keep from discussing my home life too much for reasons, largely because so little goes on, but I think I've finished another Psychonauts video to my satisfaction, so I should be posting that tomorrow.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
