I'm watching videos of some really strange games

Today's Bridge: We finally had more than four players, and I partnered with Dan C. against Dan H. and Jerry. The most memorable hand to me had us bid up to a natural 4NT - I'm pretty sure we could have found 3NT, but after 1C-P-1D-1S-2H-P-3D-P, Dan decided to bid his clubs again. I can sort of see why, since he had S x-x-x H A-J-x-x D 9 C A-K-Q-J-x to my S K-x-x H Q-x-x D A-K-10-x-x C x-x. Barring a 5-1 or worse club split, we've got eight top tricks and need to find two more before the opponents lead spades twice. The nine of diamonds took the opening lead, giving me one, and in desperation, I led a low heart to the queen hoping that if Dan had the king, he'd hold it up. Indeed he did, and I was home free. I think that if I'd tested the clubs first, I'd have given the game away. We held out as long as we could, but I had garbage hands aside from that one, and while I think the final 4S Dbl by the opponents looked potentially settable, we didn't manage it.

Today's Work: I had to cut things short to rush home to deal with a medical emergency, but I explained to someone the difference between an ICD and an API. The situation gave me a chance to look into fixing the downstairs toilet, but I couldn't budge the screws, so I gave up after draining the tank. I considered turning in the U-Verse box while I was waiting, but I ended up staying home. We ended up replacing my old air purifier and buying a large one for the basement, which I hope will help conditions in the house improve. Let's hope!
