Today's Bridge: I drew out, but since one of our new players was watching, I kibitzed as well and explained auctions to him as best I could. I also did my usual routine of pointing out when I felt that people had misplayed, like when Dan C. was in a notrump contract with lots of spades on the board, but he cashed all of his other winners before taking a losing finesse and ended up with only eight tricks. Establishing the suit while he still had entries would probably have given him the contract. Nobody managed to make any contracts until the very last one, where Ken had S K-x-x H A-K-x-x-x D 2 C K-10-8-x to Dan's S A-x-x-x H Q-x D K-10-9-x C A-x-x or so. They ended up in 3NT, and neither clubs nor hearts broke well, although Ken ran a nice safety play in clubs. He threw the long spade without investigating the split there, which I thought was a little discouraging, but it might not have been enough even so. Fortunately, when Jerry got in with a club, he cashed the ace of diamonds and set up the king on the board while the ace of spades was still there for an entry. I told him afterward that a spade lead was probably safer, and definitely more neutral.

Today's Work: I got a new task that will probably take a bit longer than the one I finished, so I have things to do next week.

I'm thinking about writing up something for the LP Regrets thread breaking down every LP I've done in some meaningful fashion, but I don't know whether anyone will care or whether it's really worth the time it would take to write it. I won't know if I don't try, though, but tonight, I think cleaning up the commentary I did last night would be more productive.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
