I think today was a pretty good day. Dad texted me to let me know that he plans to make the long trip to visit me tomorrow for dinner, so I need to find some good places to eat in the area. There are plenty of steakhouses and lots of seafood restaurants, as well as a few international options - there's a sushi/Japanese place that certainly sounds promising, but I went over there tonight to check out the hot dog place in the same strip, and it's almost impossible to get back onto the road from there. With my smartphone, there's little risk of getting lost, so there's no reason to restrict myself to nearby places.

I got fed up with the hotel's Internet tonight because the DNS kept failing - which produces weird results like a Youtube video continuing to play and Skype working just fine while no other pages would load. I finally found the option for manual DNS buried deep in the Windows options and managed to set them to Google's servers, which I've always found reliable. I could have sworn I'd already done that, but it was probably on my old laptop and I never had a problem with it on this one until now. I knew how to fix it, but there was only one brief failure per night until tonight. Anyway, problem solved and I'm making my way through as much video backlog as I can.

The training went pretty well today too, but there's not much I can say about it. I'm learning about new software that just doesn't seem to have much in common with our existing software except for the features it provides. The way it provides those features is very different. But tomorrow's lesson is about what I think will be the closest thing to what we would be doing, so I'll see how it goes.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
