Today's Bridge: I surprisingly drew in yet again, and it was a competitive day. We ended up making four partscores to assemble two games, then went for a contract a bit out of our league in a 3D pre-empt with no diamond honors. (That was Ken's bid, not mine, although it's the kind of bid I'd make. I'm just glad I didn't redouble with about ten points and two diamonds.) Two of our contracts should have failed, but in each, Dan H. cashed an ace, setting up a king for the last trick I needed.

Today's Work: I finally got to see that puzzling problem in action, and it turns out that I used the wrong index in two different places, which sort of canceled each other out. (I was writing the wrong number into a table, but into the wrong part of the table, so it didn't usually affect anything.) There are issues in another part of the program that made certain things not work the way I wanted them to, but I just wrote around those, and it seems to be working for now. There was another problem that came up, probably due to network problems, but I improved the response to that issue as well, and I didn't see it after that. Finally, an old problem that we only ever saw a couple of times came back, and we finally figured out what the issue was. The pre-programmed layout didn't seem to work quite the way we expected it to, so I got rid of it and manually put in the commands that set up the screen the right way.

I was up at about 4 and decided to head to work early, since I was expecting a slow commute. There was some snow on the roads, but it wasn't a factor most of the way. The trip home was slower - even though the snow on the road had melted completely, there was a truck trying to turn into the construction site, but it was too long to fit, so traffic in both directions had to stop for about ten minutes, and then the police let the other side go first. There were three more trucks after that, but they all pulled off the side of the road and parked to let traffic go by, possibly because they heard about the first truck being stuck. I still got home early and installed the new Hyrule Warriors update, but I haven't had the chance to play the new characters yet. I'll do that shortly.

I have high hopes for a revelation that came out of a conversation tonight. Maybe, when I feel like I've harmed someone, I can channel my guilt into doing something good instead of hurting myself. I doubt it, but I won't know until I try.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
