Today's Bridge: We had four people, so we played. There were some hands that didn't go too well, like the first one where partner was really enthusiastic while I had little more than seven diamonds to offer - we ended in 4NT off two, and I don't know whether 5D would have gone any better. If I'd finessed in diamonds, I'd likely have made it. We won the first rubber eventually and I got S A-K-J-x-x-x-x H A D x-x C A-x-x. 1S-2S-3C, and Paul intervened with 3H. Dan H. bid 3S, and I didn't know whether he actually didn't have an ace to bid or he had the ace of diamonds but didn't want to bid it, so I went to 4NT-5C-5S. He had S x-x-x H J-x D K-J-x-x C K-Q-x, so the outcome of the hand mainly came down to the diamonds. I pulled trump with the queen falling singleton, then led a diamond right to Paul's ace. Six, and with Paul holding the power, I might have bid it double-dummy. There was a pretty exciting 2NT, where I had to throw away good hearts to maintain entries to the hearts, but I don't remember the exact holding in that one. Paul also went to 3S to keep me out of what would have been an interesting 3D, and Dan doubled that into game, but for good reason - the spade split was something like 5-0 and we set them four. Excellently doubled.

Today's Work: I spent the morning finally learning how to use Java's built-in color picker to replace the rather sad arrangement of buttons for specific colors based on a completely different system with those buttons plus a color picker that's capable of any RGB color, as well as a pretty decent set of swatches. Not that anyone's likely to care, since the colors only even appear if you go out of your way to use the system in an unintended way, but it's neat. And I fixed a bunch of little problems as well, leaving mainly cosmetic things to work on next week. That's as it should be.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
