Tokka and Rahzar were in the TMNT cartoon. My mind is blown.

Today's Bridge: I'm rather disturbed that I've been getting to play so often. All three days this week. There was a lot of misfortune to go around, including a 3H off four by the opponents and a S A-K-Q-J-x-x-x H x D A-J C Q-x-x or so where I wanted to open 4S, but I went with a more traditional 1S, Paul bid 1NT, and I jumped to 4S. Opponents cashed the top two clubs, ruffed a club, and cashed the ace of hearts. The diamond king fell, so I was only off the one, but I'd go for it again in a heartbeat. The next hand was a weak heart opener, S A-Q-x H K-10-x-x-x-x D x-x C x-x, and Paul responded 2NT. That would normally be a closeout, but I was both worried he might be counting me for better hearts and optimistic about the potential for using the spades as entries, so I bid 3H to push him to 3NT. Instead, he bid 4H much to my surprise. What he had was S x-x H A-J-x-x D x C K-Q-x-x-x-x - he was trying to bid the 2NT that would be strong support opposite a one-level opener. Notrump would be an unmitigated disaster, but in hearts, we lose a diamond, a club, and possibly a spade on the finesse or the queen of hearts if the split is 3-0 and I cash the wrong high card on the first trick. If I keep the right high card, I can finesse the queen out on the second heart trick. As it happened, the hearts were 2-1 and the king was onside, so I got an overtrick.

Today's Work: There was a long meeting that I don't think I got much out of or contributed much to, but I spent the morning fixing some of the problems that we noticed earlier in the week, so that was productive.
