Today's Bridge: I started with a great hand - 20 points and balanced. Unfortunately, Ken only had a pair of jacks, so I was off two in 2NT. The opponents were off two in the next hand, making us even, but then I opened 2S with S K-Q-J-10-x-x H J-x-x-x-x D x C x and Ken raised me to four with S A-9-8-x-x-x H x D x-x-x C Q-J-x. Jerry doubled with his 20-point hand and three aces backed by two kings, but as you can see, I just lose one trick in each side suit and walk home with the contract. The opponents then underbid a pair of slams to win the rubber. For a finale, Ken opened 2C when I had S K-x H K-J-x-x D 7-x-x C x-x-x-x, so I responded negatively, 2D. He went up to 3D, and I figured that was a fit, but I had to explore with 3H-3NT-4C. Paul doubled that, and Ken went back to diamonds, so I raised to 5D. It was a gutsy move, and with his S A-Q-x H A-Q-x D A-K-x-x-x C K-x, things could have gone very wrong, but Paul's double placed the ace of clubs to my left, meaning that the king was a guaranteed winner, and then Jerry led a club and established it for me when he got in with the queen of diamonds. Contract made.

I fixed a few things at work, including what I was working on yesterday and another control that never worked properly, but I'd put it on the back burner for a while. I forgot that bytes in Java are always signed. Oops. That might be why I had a pretty bad headache a bit ago. I took the nighttime pain medicine, and I'm feeling drowsy, so I might try to get to bed early. It's a telework day tomorrow.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
