Today's Bridge: My side came out on top, although I committed the grave sin of stopping short of slam and not redoubling. I had something like S A-x-x H A-K-x-x-x D A-K-x C J-x and Jerry, my partner, opened 1D. Obviously, we were going for slam with 2H-3H-4NT. He responded 5C, no aces, and if he didn't have the king of clubs, we were facing two cashing club tricks, so I stopped at 5H. Dan C. doubled, and I really should have redoubled, but it was the end of the rubber and I didn't need to. There was absolutely no risk - Jerry had S K-x-x-x H Q-x-x D Q-J-x-x C K-Q or so, which let me sluff the losing spade on the long diamond and lose only the ace of clubs. We started with a 4C that I probably shouldn't have encouraged, but it made exactly, and then a 4S just because we didn't need it. We pushed the opponents up to 5D when we may have had 5C - I had S x H A-x-x-x D 10-x C A-Q-x-x-x-x and Jerry had A-Q-x-x-x of spades to cover Paul's K-x, so we got the first two, he led a third spade for an overruff, and I still had both aces for off two. I even counted spades to make sure Dan couldn't sluff a club on one - I knew he had no more than four because he'd opened diamonds. We finished with a tense 3NT - I opened 1NT with S K-x H K-x-x-x D A-K-Q C Q-x-x-x, Jerry bid 2C, and I naturally responded 2H. He bid 2S, and I corrected to 2NT in case he was weak. He raised to 3NT and showed me S Q-x-x H Q-x D x-x-x-x C A-K-J-x. Oops - Stayman was a mistake, but his correct response was 3NT, which is where we ended up anyway. The opening spade lead ran to my king, so I led a heart to the queen, and that held as well. With three diamond tricks and four clubs, that was my nine.

Aside from Bridge, it was a pretty weird day. I got an early start on that merge I needed to do, but the respository wasn't cooperating - it kept losing the connection and erroring out mid-merge, which is very, very bad for a reintegrate merge. After lunch, we finally decided that maybe I'd have better luck from home, after my login credentials had locked during the many attempts. I got them unlocked, filed my paperwork, and headed home for the afternoon, only to have no more luck. Somehow, it finally worked around 4:30, and I committed my changes without testing them because I really didn't have much time. After that, I found one problem and fixed it, and that's all I had time for. I got three Christmas cards and a bill in the mail today, which was a pretty happy coincidence. I have some calls to make either tomorrow or over the weekend. I ended the day with some Hyrule Warriors and got the last of what I consider the easy weapons to get - it was in the center of the top of the map and was just something I hadn't returned to in a long time. Likewise, I took Agitha to some of the early levels where she still had heart containers to collect - they were pretty easy now that I have more levels, more experience, and better weapons. That could potentially help me in some of the other levels where I need her, but I doubt it. I tried killing 1000 enemies in ten minutes with Epona, which seems to be the best weapon for the job, and missed by about forty. That's not going to get me an A-rank.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
