Today's Bridge: We didn't do too well. There were bad splits all around, and I misbid a hand with S A-Q-10-x-x H A-Q-10-x-x D Q C x-x - we reached 4S, but when Paul went to Blackwood, I bid 5H - two aces, no queen of trump. So when he stopped at 5S, I raised to 6. I've felt the urge to do that many times in the past and never acted on it, and this time, with his S K-J-x-x H K-? D A-x-x C K-J-x-x, I think it was the right move. Sadly, the clubs were split 6-1 against us and they took the first two tricks. All we managed was a three-trick set of 3D, which I probably should have doubled because I also had five of the other suit the opponents had bid, spades, and I doubt Paul would have rebid the hearts that I had none of. He got distracted and didn't keep feeding me hearts to ruff, but it worked out, because once I let Ken have the ace, Paul ran the rest of his honors, and I ended up splitting the last two tricks with Ken as he had to ruff Paul's ten of clubs and let me have the last diamond. The opponents made two unopposable games and we might have had something to work with if I'd left the 5S, but I think they still end up winning the rubber.

I'm making more of an effort to be okay with myself. It hasn't been long enough for me to tell whether it's going to be sustainable long term, but I'm liking it so far. Then again, I've lost count of how many times I've tried something like this. It makes the negativity stand out so much more.

Yes, I'm THAT Nidoking. Sometimes I write fanfiction... often I waste all my time playing video games and watching anime. But it's not a waste if I enjoy it, right? I can quote from a movie, video game, anime series, or British comedy apropos of just about any situation, and one of my main goals in life is to entertain people. (The other big one is amassing as much anime and manga as I can... see below for a progress report.) That's me in a nutshell. ("Help! I'm trapped in a nutshell! What a bloody great nutshell this is!")
